International
Academic Year (IAY)
24, 34 or 44 Weeks
A1 | A2 | B1 | B2 | C1
This is the most flexible long-term course you can study. During the early part of your course you will talk about your learning needs with an academic manager, who will make a personal study plan with you. We can review and change this as you progress. The biggest benefit of studying the IAY course is your freedom to move between all 3 main courses: General English, Cambridge English & IELTS Exam Preparation, for free!
Success at Beet is due to four main qualities
Core Programme
All courses are of fixed length, apart from our summer B2 First (FCE) & C1 Advanced (CAE) courses which are between 4 & 8 weeks (depending on your own availability and level).
If you are unsure whether your English level is high enough, please contact the school or your educational consultant who will arrange for you to take a test.
If your level is a little too low, you can join a General English Course before you start the exam course.
On the first day, you are given a comprehensive test to identify your exact level. You are then placed in a class of students at your level, all preparing for the same examination. For some Cambridge English exams there may be several “micro-levels”, each at a slightly different level from the others, and ranging from ‘C’ to ‘A’ grade expectations.
Your course will build your confidence and accuracy in all forms of the language. You will receive extensive training in examination techniques, and sit at least one mock examination. Your speaking will abilities will be personally assessed by senior members of the teaching staff on most courses.
All Cambridge English teachers at Beet have many years of experience delivering the preparation courses, so you can be assured that we have extensive knowledge of the requirements of the Cambridge English examining board.
Beet is a major centre of Cambridge English examination courses, producing excellent results.

About us
Beet was established by its founder, Clive Barrow, in 1979 with just 3 students! Since that time it’s grown in size but firmly remains an independent, family-run school. We aim to help each and every one of our students to achieve their English language goals in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Our students’ happiness is our priority, they come first!
We operate an open-door policy at all times which means our students are always able to come to us whenever they feel the need. They don’t need an appointment to talk to us; we are always on-hand to help!
Award-Winning Bournemouth
Situated in a residential area within easy access of Bournemouth centre and our miles of award-winning beaches, Bournemouth is a bustling town with plenty to do and see and easy access to the countryside and London.
We have a programme of fun evening events and lectures and weekend excursions run by our teachers. This is why so many of our students call Beet their second home!
