Scholarships Programme

What is it?

The BEET and ITTC Scholarship Programme is designed to help people who might not otherwise be able to afford a course of studies in England. Scholarships are awarded both to students and teachers of English.

Scholarships for Students (BEET): These are normally for a two to four-week course in General English, to be taken at any time except July and the first two weeks of August, also the Christmas/New Year holiday, when the school is closed for 2 weeks.

Scholarships for Teachers (ITTC): These scholarships are for qualified teachers, who would like to attend a Refresher Course in Language and Methodology. The courses will be for two to four weeks, and will normally be offered for the January/February period. Teachers can also obtain scholarships by bringing a group of students to study at BEET. For full details, please consult a participating agent.

What is included?
Each award is for the cost of the course, all books and learning materials and for the homestay accommodation. Accommodation includes all meals except for lunches Monday to Friday, which can be bought cheaply in the school.

Not Included return flights to England, airport transfers and pocket money for personal expenses.

How does it work?

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of a written submission in two parts:

1) Why do you think you should receive a scholarship? Please write a maximum of 350 words.
2) Here is the first sentence of a short story. Please complete the story in less than 500 words:

"Monica first heard the sound far away, but now it was immediately behind her."

The questions are not a test of English.  We shall be looking for content, not quality of language.  However, if you are a teacher, you will be expected to have good English.  If you are a student of English, your level is not important.  Even if your English level is low, use what you have to express your answers.  If you need to get help from a friend, that is acceptable.
