What is it?
The BEET and ITTC Scholarship Programme is designed to help people who might not otherwise be able to afford a course of studies in England. In 2013 scholarships will be awarded to both students and teachers of English in Argentina and Chile.
Scholarships for Students (BEET)
These are for a four-week course in General English, to be taken during January and February 2014.
Scholarships for Teachers (ITTC)
These scholarships are for qualified teachers who would like to attend a Refresher Course in Language and Methodology. The courses will be for four weeks and will be offered for the January/February period. Teachers can also obtain scholarships by bringing a group of students to study at BEET. For full details, please consult a participating agent.
What is included?
Each award is for the cost of the course, all books and learning materials, and for the homestay accommodation. Accommodation includes all meals except for lunches Monday to Friday, which can be bought cheaply in the school or near the training centre. When Saturday excursions are running (most weeks), these are included free of charge.
What is not included?
Return flights to England, airport transfers and pocket money for personal expenses.
How does it work?
Scholarships are awarded on the basis of a written submission in two parts.
Student Scholarships
- Why do you think you should receive a scholarship? (Please write a maximum of 350 words.)
- Choose one of these three topics and write up to 350 words.
- My Favourite Building (It could be a palace, a castle or even your own home.)
- My Favourite Film (Say why the film appealed to you so much, but please don't copy or translate a newspaper review!)
- My Favourite Month (You might tell us about its atmosphere, its activities and/or even its colours.)
Teacher Scholarships
- Why do you think you should receive a scholarship? (Please write a maximum of 350 words.)
- Write up to 500 words in answer to these two questions:
- What are the main problems your students encounter when studying English?
- What ways have you found to help them solve these problems?
The questions are not a test of English. We shall be looking for content much more than for quality of language. However, if you are a teacher, you will be expected to display a good range of English. If you are a student, your level is not important. Even if your English level is low, use what you have to express your answers.
When you are happy with your answers, e-mail your submission, together with your personal information, to:

Closing date for entries: 31 August 2013
The winning contestants will be notified within 2 weeks of the closing date and their names posted on the BEET website. If you do not hear from us, then you have not been successful. However, you can still enrol on a course at any time of the year, at a discounted price. For further information, please go to your own country's scholarship page for details of the nearest participating agent.
Conditions of Entry
1 Contestants must be a minimum of 17 years of age (students) and 21 years (teachers).
2 Scholarships must be used within one calendar year of the closing date.
3 Scholarships are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for money, goods or services.
4 BEET and ITTC reserve the right to use the winning entries and the names, video and photographs of the winners for publicity purposes
