The School

BEET is a family-run independent school, founded in 1979. We have an average population of 180 students, with normally between 20 and 40 different nationalities at any one time.

The School

Although the normal age of our students is 19 to 26 years, there is no upper age limit and it is usual to have many students in their 30's, 40's, and older. The minimum age is 17 (in some circumstances we may accept a younger person).

BEET is accredited by the British Council and a member of English UK, Quality English and IALC. We are the only Bournemouth school in membership of TEN (The English Network).

Our medium size allows us to provide a properly structured learning programme and also guarantees the individual attention that everyone needs. From the beginning, we have believed in the maxim of excellence. Our teachers are qualified, of course. However, what we seek in a teacher cannot be written on a diploma. It is the quality of talent, the ability to turn professionalism into inspiration combined with a high degree of care for the individual student.

This philosophy applies to everything we do, whether inside or outside the classroom. A good language school offers more than education. It is a total service, including accommodation, welfare, a full extra-curricular programme, student counselling and a school cafeteria where you can buy good food at low prices. All of this must be of consistently high quality, and at a personal level. At BEET, you are guaranteed this.

BEET also has a teacher training division, the International Teaching and Training Centre (ITTC). ITTC is one of the world's leading teacher training centres, approved by the University of Cambridge for the running of CELTA, Delta and ICELT courses. ITTC also runs Teacher Refresher Courses, with Comenius funding for EU teachers.

The main school building was originally a 19th century school and has great charm and character. Now modernised, the school is equipped with 16 classrooms, all with interactive whiteboards, library and bookshop, 2 self-access centres with a total of 34 computers on ADSL broadband, free wireless, video facilities, university counselling, canteen and car park.
